Inspired by a frequent backyard visitor, this piece is about the attitude and charm of these corvids. The beautiful shades of this bright blue bird make a bold statement. The background is a raw edge fabric collage that is heavily stitched in bold colours including orange, sunny yellow and bright green. This slow stithced piece is further enhanced with purposeful mark making stitches throughout. The focal point is the Steller's Jay bird in full plumage. The confident bird has a twinkle in her eye, gazing directly at the viewer.
